Why Stephen
Bailey for Congress?

Our nation faces the following critical decision:
Are we going to have a limited government under the Constitution,
or an all-powerful administrative state?
Over the past several years we have witnessed the accelerating
erosion of the principles of a limited government that protects
each of our inalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit
of Happiness. The brave women and men who founded our nation
would be appalled at the appetite of the hungry, out-of-control
federal government growing fat on the fruits of our labor.
Power-lusting politicians have swept aside considerations
of Constitutional authority. As a result, we are left with
an increasingly all-powerful government that is largely responsible
for our current decline in economic progress and civil discourse.
However, our citizenry is waking up to this problem and is
mobilizing to turn the tide.
We are becoming acutely aware that we cannot continue consuming
our children’s and grandchildren’s future wealth. Reckless
big government spending must be stopped. We cannot expect
business to thrive and create new jobs when the government
undermines businesses and individuals with high taxes, creates
uncertainty, consumes half of production, abrogates contracts,
dictates the terms under which a business may operate, picks
winners and losers via corporate welfare, and nationalizes
entire industries.
Our ancestors rose to the occasion in 1776, creating the land
of the free, again 100 years later to guarantee freedom to
all citizens, and in World War II to vanquish the enemies
of freedom. Our country is at a similar crossroads. We must
restore the Constitution to its proper place and return our
government to its proper role of protecting - not violating
- individual rights. When we do this, we will again make the
United States the land of liberty and opportunity.
There is no alternative. If we continue on our current course,
our children will wake up to the gray ashes of an extinguished
flame, to a future devoid of the freedoms and prosperity that
their grandparents enjoyed.
Protect
freedom now
that our children may prosper –
bear Liberty’s torch.
I want to represent Colorado’s 2nd Congressional
District because I understand the consequences of doing nothing.
As Ayn Rand put it: “I’m not
brave enough to be a coward; I see the consequences too clearly.”
Freedom finds itself in an hour of danger. Successful human
life requires freedom: the freedom to act according to the
judgments we make, as individuals, in the pursuit of our well-being.
It is no accident that the United States of America has created
the greatest human advancement in history. When liberties
are protected by government, people are free to succeed. Liberty
is inseparable from peaceful existence, economic prosperity
and an increasing standard of living.
We cannot continue to allow politicians to run rough-shod
over the Constitution, usurping powers far beyond those delegated
by the people and enumerated in the Constitution. Our most
precious liberty, the freedom of speech, is already under
direct attack. If we cannot speak freely, then the path of
peaceful persuasion will be undermined.
For the citizens of the 2nd Congressional District, I swear
by my sacred honor that I will fight for and uphold your individual
rights and the glorious document that protects them: the U.S.
Constitution. In this election, you will have a clear choice
between Liberty and Serfdom. Let us fight for the restoration
of freedom and liberty together!
